The archive

The pictures behind the charts. Newspaper pages from the years the town was being built, scanned whole and readable, and photographs of the place as it is now — each one dated, credited and linked back to where it came from.

From the newspaper

6 pages from the Los Angeles Times, 1971 to 1990, covering the condominium boom, the 1980 turn and the airport dispute that later bankrupted the Town. Each thumbnail opens the full page as a PDF — the type is legible at full size and not at this one.

Photographs

The dates and the locations are the cameras’, not ours: where a photograph carries a complex name below it, the camera was standing within sixty metres of that complex’s parcels. Everything here is either the site’s own or openly licensed, and the credit travels with the file.
